Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has for a long time been interrelated with Bingo. That is owing to the fact that the Indian tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for many years. Clients from every one of the surrounding states get in trucks and travel to Oklahoma to play Bingo on the weekends.

The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that time, 23 of the thirty nine American Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the initial Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the gaming laws, and today run ten gambling halls of their own. Bingo was the game on which these gambling halls were built on. computerized games such as slot machine games weren’t permitted, on the grounds that they are thought to lead to gambling addiction more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts has changed to permit big American Indian gaming gambling halls. You will now see Native casinos with one armed bandits, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are still not authorized in the Amerindian gambling dens as of yet, however this is just a matter of time. No one can say with what having different casino games in the bingo parlors will do for the popularity of bingo.
