Bingo and Oklahoma: Two birds of a feather

Oklahoma has long been analogous with Bingo. That is due to the fact that the Native tribes of Oklahoma have provided Bingo sessions for ages. Guests from each of the nearby states pile in autos and head over to Oklahoma to play Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a landmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year before. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Native bands of Oklahoma have introduced gambling halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian tribes to take advantage of the betting rules, and at this time run 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were founded. automated games like slot machine games weren’t approved, since they are thought to contribute to gambling dependency at a higher rate than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to allow for large Indian betting gambling dens. You will now see American Indian gambling halls with slots, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are not yet allowed in the Amerindian casinos as of yet, but this is only a matter of time. No one can say what having other games in the bingo parlours will do for the popularity of bingo.
