Bingo in Oklahoma

Oklahoma has for a long time been synonymous with Bingo. That is because the Indian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for ages. Clients from many of the neighboring states get in vehicles and travel to Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo for the weekends.

The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was introduced after a precedent setting decision by The U.S. Supreme Court the year prior. Since that instance, twenty three of the thirty nine Indian bands of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma American Indian band to take advantage of the gambling restrictions, and today operate ten gambling halls of their very own. Bingo was the game on which the above-mentioned gambling halls were built on. digital games like slot machines weren’t approved, since they are thought to contribute to gambling problems more than bingo.

In recent years, Oklahoma governing edicts has changed to allow for large Indian gaming gambling halls. You will now find Amerindian gambling dens with one armed bandits, video poker and black jack tables. Craps and roulette are still not legal in the Indian gambling dens as of yet, however this is just a waiting game. No one can say with whether having other gambling den games in the bingo parlours will do for the appeal of bingo.
