An abundance has been stated in the press just a while ago regarding the bingo industry being hit as a result of the cigarette ban in the UK. Conditions have grown so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However does the online variation of this classic game present a salvation, or will it not compare to its land based relative?
Bingo has been an age old game normally played by the "blue rinse" generation. Although the game recently had experienced a recent resurgence in popularity with younger men and women opting to visit the bingo parlors rather than the discos on a weekend. All this is about to be reversed with the legislating of the anti cigarette law across England and Wales.
No more will gamblers be able to smoke whilst marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of 2007 all public locations will no longer be allowed to permit cigarettes in their buildings and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most common places where people like to puff on cigarettes.
The outcome of the cigarette ban can already be seen in Scotland where smoking is already barred in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the industry is absolutely struggling for to stay alive. But where did all the players go? Of course they have not forgotten this classic game?
The answer is on the web. People realize that they can gamble on bingo from their computer at the same time enjoying a cocktail and cigarette and in the end, have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the ban on smoking.
Of course gambling on on the net can never replace the collective portion of going over to the bingo hall, but for a group of players the rules have left many bingo players with little alternative.
